For some years now, he has been a part of numerous residency programmes and projects, usually in Scandinavia, and soon he would be spending a time at DEPO2015, Pilsen, as our artist in residence from 30th October till 4th December 2017.

In 1995, he graduated from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad where his first exhibiting activity began as well.  He presented the country of Serbia and Vojvodina in many exhibitions all over the world from Island to Japan; most of his works are also collected by a lot of the museums.

Dragan Vojvodić became a member of SULUV (League of Associations of Fine Artists of Vojvodina) and ULUS (Association of Fine Artists of Serbia). He currently lives and works in Novi Sad.

Art Statement:

"THE ART IS COMMUNICATION – A DISCOURSE IMPLEMENTED BY USING MY OWN BODY AND OBJECT REPRESENTING IT AS WELL AS SPACE WHERE THE BODY IS SITUATED. PRESENCE OR ABSENCE OF THE BODY AND THEIR MUTUAL RELATION ARE PARADIGM OF DIFFERENT EXISTENTIAL SITUATIONS. THAT RELATION IN A RANGE FROM INERTIA TO TENSION OR TO TOTAL DESTRUCTION, BESIDES, THE VISUAL CONNOTATIONS REFERS TO SYMBOLIC AND IMPLICIT LAYER OF MY OWN BEING."

The main goal of the project in Pilsen would be in the fields of urban research, art and humanities, transforming interdisciplinary research and practice dealing with the contemporary society into art practice. His aim is to create interactive site-specific installation, which will involve local artists and all interested individuals in creative dialogue.

The cross-disciplinary conceptual research and In Situ project titled The Meaning of The Home: His research will pose the same questions for different ethnic groups in the Czech Republic (Pilsen region). What does ”Home” mean? What is it like when we must leave our ”Homes”? What happens to those who lost their ”Homes”/ who seek for the new ”Home”?

Note: This project is a part of a long term & an on-going research project in collaboration with writer and cultural researcher Ljiljana Maletin Vojvodić who took all of the photos and will join him later in November 2017 - ljiljanamaletin.wordpress.com

This residency project is organised by the OPEN A.i.R. Program and the Plants Air Program in cooperation with Makerspace DEPO2015.
