Vojtěch Domlátil
Vojtěch Domlátil currently works as an assistant of the Studio of animation and interactive art lead by Jiří Barta on Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. He has become our next artist in residence of Youkobo Art Space in Japan as well, where he works from 1st October till 30th November 2017.
His work consists of animation, illustration and graphic design. Recently he has focused on experimental stopmotion animation. Animation for Vojtěch Domlátil is not only about technique, but also a medium to express oneself. Besides that, he inclines to the Asian aesthetics that could be seen in some of his illustrations like How to find Panchenlama or in a book Pinocchio inspired by a Tibetan Thangka painting and additionally in a movie MI based on the Vietnamese instant noodle soup - vimeo.com/181607146.
In Tokyo he plans to create an experimental stopmotion project animation haiku, his goal is to transform the rules of classical Japanese haiku poetry into the audio-visual form of animated film with the result of a projection containing seventeen seconds short visual poems named Audiovisual Haiku Poetry.
What is more, during the stay in Japan he is getting ready to lecture about Czech stopmotion animation and to make workshops for students of Joshibi University. In the terms of residency, he will try to arrange collaboration between the Pilsen Studio of animation and Geidai Tokyo University of the Arts.
